Power intros are gaining momentum again. They were a huge hit in the late 90s. They morphed and evolved. Today, every production company has its version or name and take on the power of power intros. Take a moment to read an article about beatmixes, singovers, power intros or ID mixers here.

Here in this post, we’re going to feature a basic power intro featuring the collaborative hit – 4 Minutes by Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. The power intro starts with a voice clip that goes “put your hands together and give it up for”, the station name, voice drop that shouts “oh my God!”, then an audio clip that says “Justin Timberlake ladies and gentlemen, with Madonna”, and finally the song.

For dummy, the intro uses the station name Sky FM. The power intro simply uses different voice clips, edited side by side to sound spontaneous. The song is rhythmic so the voice clips need to be beatmatched with the song.

While Dallas is officially called the Jingle mecca, Seattle is without a doubt apt to be called the capital of contemporary jingle imaging. ReelWorld and IQ Beats, definitely, have contributed a lot to the advancement of the jingle IDs. However, there is also one company in Seattle that’s making really good jingles.

The company is GMI Media. It’s been around for quite some time now producing audio imaging not just for radio, but also for TV, advertising and the web since 1989. Oldies Radio jingles of WABC are back! No, not because it’s featured on XM 60s but because the creator of Oldies Radio is bringing back what made WABC popular. WABC calls it Saturday Night Oldies. Hosted by Mark Simone, the show will run from 6 to 10 pm, Saturday nights. The program will showcase oldies hit songs, oldies radio jingles, audio clips that will surely bring back the youth of WABC core listeners. The Lounge 106.3 is a new Australian station based on Port Douglas. Two years ago, they call it Smooth Jazz 106.3 and they used jingles from Jingles Factory. Then they changed to Velvet Radio 106.3, the jingles were again from Jingles Factory. This year, new format, and a new name, The Lounge 106.3 . The director of the station called Jingles Factory once again and the results are jingles, logos, instrumental versions and image ramps, all in a new format style, for every jingle at least four different cuts. Here they are, the brand new jingles for The Lounge 106.3 — cool, calm, relaxing.

Harvard Broadcasting recently opened a new station in Saskatoon, South-Central Saskatchewan, Canada on 96.3 FM. The station name is Santa FM, the format – Christmas. Who would have thought that a Christmas station would start airing weeks after the Lenten Season, but it did happen on April 11th. Santa FM went on air with the slogan “Saskatoon’s No.1 Christmas Music Station”. It caught the attention of many, both fans and critics. But a number weren’t happy about having a Christmas station as early as April.

KCMike at Jinglemad.com, alerted the jingle community of the return of the six-note Kiss Boston logo on ReelWorld ONE CHR’s April update for the Kiss 108 logo. The other April 08 and previous logo stingers from the core jingles, logo workparts, produced IDs, beatmixes folders bear the four note logo. Here’s my take on why the 6 note KISS 108 FM has been re-introduced.

1. Logo Variety. Who doesn’t love the old 6 note KISS 108 FM? This was a way to attract potential clients that have longer station logos.

2. Logo Update. This could also mean that ReelWorld will be including the 6 note logo in future updates much like what was done with the KISS Boston 2003 package.

I should say that the 6 note logo sounds really better than the four note. Whatever works, I think it’s a good thing for stations to have different options with the KISS 108 logo.

I think this logo variety should also be done with the KIIS FM logo. Incorporating the Kiss Cincinnati logo into KIIS LA’s future ReelWorld ONE updates would be great.
