New Voices of Beat 102 103

Posted by RadioJingles.co.nr On February - 23 - 2009

Enda Caldwell Voices Beat 102 103 Beat 102 103 commissioned Enda Caldwell to be it’s new voice beginning February 16. Enda has also been the nighttime voice of Dublin’s FM 104, and a favorite of IP Luxemboug Advertising Agency and TM Studios. Today, he shares to us his experience as the new voice of Beat 102 103.

1. What did Beat 102 103 expect from you as the new voice for the station? How do you make sure that the station gets the exact sound they want?

When Leigh Doyle the Head of Station Sound at Beat 102 103 called me up in January he told me that Beat wanted something with attitude and my “style” as heard on FM 104’s The Fridge nightly. In order to ensure that Beat 102 103 got what they were looking for we worked on some basic station sample lines and the station name and getting that right at first plus a promo read that was representative of a typical Beat station promo read. There are always differences with every new project and although the guys asked for something the same as FM 104 it was not fast enough to Read the rest of this entry »

Posted by RadioJingles.co.nr On February - 19 - 2009

How to Combat Radio Fear FactorPeople are scared. Owners/GMs are scared of losing money, scared of the de-valuation of their radio stations. And DJs are scared because they are afraid of losing their jobs.

DJs do the best job of handling fear, because DJs are ALWAYS afraid of losing their jobs. So, they learn how to handle fear or they don’t survive in this business. But, the current state of the economy has driven up the fear factor a bit, even for the jocks.

5 Rules for Great Radio Commercials

Posted by RadioJingles.co.nr On February - 17 - 2009

5 Rules to Great Radio CommercialHave  you followed these rules in making great radio commercials yet? If you are, then you are on your way to making radio “obra maestra”! But if you are a rebel type of producer, then I dare you break these rules.  From Radio Mercury Awards (www.radiomercuryawards.com)

Rule #1: Don’t attract the listener’s attention. (Ever heard a radio commercial that didn’t command your attention? Make sure your spot doesn’t have the same effect on listeners.)

Rule #2: Fail to paint a picture. (Radio is a visual medium. Your words create a mental image that inspires and motivates listeners to act.  Words are powerful – choose them carefully.)

Rule #3: Be so clever or creative you forget to sell. (A good commercial isn’t one that just makes people laugh; it motivates them to act. Make your message clear. Don’t bury it in a clever idea.)

Rule #4: Use cliché-ridden copy. (Commercial clichés are trite and empty and don’t communicate anything to listeners. Find a way to say it fresher. It’s worth it.)

Rule #5: Write way too much copy. (Read your copy out loud at a normal conversational pace and time yourself. If it takes you seventy-five seconds to read it, what makes you think your talent can do a good job with the same copy in just sixty seconds?)

If you are ready to break these rules, then you are green and go to join the 2009 Radio Mercury Awards, the most prestigious competition devoted to radio since 1992. The RMA aims to to encourage and reward the development of effective and creative radio commercials. The annual Radio Mercury Awards competition draws entries from advertising agencies, production houses, radio stations, and educational institutions across the country. Approximately 16,000 commercials have competed for over $2.8 million in prizes. The Radio Creative Fund (RCF), a non-profit corporation funded by the radio industry, governs the Radio Mercury Awards. Last year, the $100,000 Grand Prize was awarded to TBWA\Chiat\Day NY.

Up for grabs this year is a grand prize of $100,000.00! Click to learn how to submit your Magnum Opus!

New Jingles for Pirate Radio Show

Posted by RadioJingles.co.nr On February - 11 - 2009

New Jingles for Pirate Radio ShowPirate Johnnie Walker is a new weekly show for BBC Radio 2.

The show is set on a fictitious pirate vessel named the Rock ‘N’ Roll, sailing somewhere in the North Sea (although Johnnie is actually sitting in a comfortable Radio 2 studio on dry land!).

Playing hits from 1955 to 1975 – much of it on the original vinyl – Pirate Johnnie Walker transports Radio 2 listeners back to the days of pirate radio in the ‘60s and ‘70s…

Wise Buddah Jingles & Music Imaging were commissioned to provide the jingles for the show in the style and the sound of the late 60’s. Producer/composer Jem Godfrey approached the challenge by initially studying the production components of that era.
