Listener Audio Clips and Tips

Posted by RadioJingles.co.nr On March - 31 - 2009

Listener Audio Clips and TipsThe use of listener clips have been around since radio went interactive. Today, listener audio clips help breath life, excitement, and credibility to a production. But is there really a right or wrong way to use listener clips? We recently had a chat with Ian Sturgeon of Big Fish Worldwide and shared to us the beauty of producing with listener audio clips.

1. If you compare a promo/production that has listener clips in it with a promo that hasn’t, what is the advantage?

I think You can make promos that are creative, and fun without listener audio, but using listener audio in things like winner promos is great! It build excitement. It helps the listener imagine themselves as a winner.

One common thing to do with cash contests is to feature listeners talking about what they’d do with the money if they won. After they hear the promo the listener goes away thinking…”yup…I’d catch up on bills too…” or…”yeah, a vacation…that would be great.” It makes a contest seem possible, and it makes them want it more.

2. When using listener audio clips, are there specific rules in using them as far as production is concerned? Read the rest of this entry »

The Making of Radio 5 Nostalgia JinglesIn co-operation with Radio 5 Nostalgia’s Music Director Ron Stoeltie, Top Format produced a series that was played by the Dutch Metropole Orchestra.
Not less than 55 people performed on this unique jingle package that convey the nostalgic sound of this Public Broadcaster in the Netherlands.

Stabs, Sweeps, Synths For Radio Production

Posted by RadioJingles.co.nr On March - 25 - 2009

Stabs, Sweeps, Synths for Radio ProductionOkay, I love creating branded intros and other productions that have something to do with songs. Particularly challenging are times when you wish you had the raw synths, FX, stabs, and guitar riffs of the song.

I just found out about this new radio imaging package from Bangin Beats. The package is called Eargasm, what a perfect name, the best thing is that it’s loaded with lots of sound design elements. It’s got drones, sound scapes, phone FX, beats, yeah the usual stuff, but like I said, the icing on the cake on this package are the super cool stabs, stereo sweeps, solo instruments, and plenty of synths.

This package lets you become a music producer. The best part is it’s only $49.95. I hope I get paid with this post, but I’m not. Gotta check it out here – http://www.bangin-beats.com/instruments.html

Dangers Of Auto-Pilot Programming

Posted by RadioJingles.co.nr On March - 24 - 2009

The flight from Seattle was within miles of Houston when the flight attendant came on the intercom to say “welcome on board Continental Airlines.”

Then, she paused in mid-sentence as the first few rows of frequent fliers came to the realization that what she had meant to say was the traditional “welcome to Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airlines” announcement, which she had no doubt delivers at least three or four times a week.

Instead, unthinkably, she started to do the typical take-off announcement, which she routinely gives three or four times each day.

“If she’s not going to think about what she’s saying, I sure won’t, “ I thought. The same is true on radio. Computers now make it so easy to walk away from the control room and have the station run itself for quarter hours at a time. Read the rest of this entry »

Jingles Behind Double Passion

Posted by RadioJingles.co.nr On March - 19 - 2009

Double Passion HitsWe recently took a time with the guys at Jingles Factory to talk about the Double Passion jingle package for Passion Hits in the UK. The best and strongest package ever from JF, Loris tells us how the package was conceived.

RJ: When Passion Hits came to Jingles Factory for a new custom package, what were they expecting? How is this project different from their previous jingles?

JF: Mr. Adrian Brookbank, station manager of Passion Hits, commissioned their  first package of jingles one year ago, he was definitely satisfied. He recalled us later asking for a different kind of package, more positive and in line with the actual playlist based on pop/house songs

RJ: In response to the Passion Hits’ requirements, what did the team at Jingles Factory do to meet the expectations of the station?

Best TV Spot for Radio Ever

Posted by RadioJingles.co.nr On March - 13 - 2009

TV Commercial for RadioBrandy created the sequel for Q-Music’s Maximum Hit Music campaign. With a new, catchy sound bed and stylish young-adult lifestyle snapshots, this commercial is once again the talk of the Netherlands and Belgium.

2 Cents: This is the best TV Campaign I’ve seen ever since the KISS Seattle vids done by Rosler Creative years ago. You just can’t beat the quality of the production, the meticulous choice of clips, the synergy between motion and audio, truly captures what Q Music is all about. No less than Maximum Hit Music!

When it comes to TV Spots for Radio I think of Rosler Creative and Drake Donovan. What other production companies you know that do TV Campaigns for radio?

Krash Creative also comes to mind, They’ve done a few video imaging for WKIS Miami, KWOD FM, and 96.9 The Eagle. You can watch some of their videos here. What do you know? Read the rest of this entry »
