You probably have heard his productions on KDWB that simple jump out of the speakers, those catchy jingle promos, and that irresistible KDWB logo that pops out somewhere in the song intro. Well these are the hand works of a creative genius named Ricky Roo.
Ricky is currently the Creative Director for KDWB-FM and KTLK-FM Minneapolis, Owner of Roomixx Productions, Co-Owner of HookMafia, freelance for TM Studios and the voice for WHTG/WBBO FM New Jersey’s HIT 106.
His musical interests go all the way back to his middle school band class. He did the band geek thing in high school, both Marching and Concert bands. Focused on the trumpet at first and then worked his way to the baritone, picking up drum line experience when he could. He then spent some time making goofy white people dance in several nightclubs as a DJ. This eventually grew into a radio gig, part-time shifts and then full-time evenings. Picked up some production skills and eventually gave up the annoying song requests from 12-year-olds for a prod room. Hooking up with DF Dub in 2002 opened up a new world of song writing and music production. The musician in Ricky Rooo sprung to action, which led to an appearance on a hit record (“Country Girl”). His musical ability helps him excel in each facet of his career.
Ricky Roo is gaining demands in the industry. With his website RickyRoo.com, he is now available for production in all forms: radio creative, song writing, remixes, tracks and voice work.
Past projects include imaging for WXKB-FM, WBBO-FM, KALC-FM, WWWQ-FM, WJLK-FM, KRBV-FM, KJKK-FM, KMVK-FM, KVIL-FM, KLLI-FM, KRLD-AM, and CBS Radio’s National “Jack” brand.
Past musical composition projects include writing credit on Columbia Records “Country Girl” by DF Dub, Country Girl (Club Remix) by Df Dub, Various musical compositions submitted to several artists.

“CHR Format Crisis” – Do you have enough hits to sound different to AC? Originally published on September Sound Bytes Issue (SOB Audio Imaging) by Mario Colantino.
CHR plays more Current Hits (= past 12 months) than other formats: sometimes up to 80%.
The main problem: In 2009 many CHR hits (age 15+) can be heard parallel on your AC competitor (age 30+). And unfortunately no PD really knows today, how CHR might musically shift next year. Most hits for 2010 are not composed yet!
In 2007 best-testing CHR hits were dominantly “R&B”: Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Kanye West, Rihanna, 50 Cent, Pussycat Dolls. In 2008 CHR listeners additionally voted on more “PopRock & Rhythmic”: Leona Lewis, Madonna, Rihanna, Britney Spears, FloRida, Duffy, Linkin Park, Katy Perry.
In 2009 listeners finally pushed Pop-Dance/Electro & PopRock: Black Eyed Peas, Lady GaGa, P!nk, Beyoncé, Kelly Clarkson, Mando Diao, Killers, David Guetta. Read the rest of this entry »

QWIPS allow you to connect with listeners with scripts written by top advertising writers. QWIPS do not take the place of your current on-air imaging. They work in rotation with your current imaging elements to enable your station’s message to connect with BOTH sides of the listener’s brains. They will not only know who you are, they will feel an emotional connection with your station.
Together with TM Studios, Radio Imaging Works aims to bring major market ad agency capabilities to local radio station on-air imaging. With QWIPS, it is not just fresh sound, it’s fresh thinking.
QWIPS can work well with any of jingle packages at TM Studios. As you will hear below on the Classic Hits QWIPS demo, you will notice that the jingles from Greatest Hits 08 (Custom written for Kool 105.5 WOLL) and from LITEhouse (sung using a Dallas vocal group) blend perfectly.
