You probably have heard his productions on KDWB that simple jump out of the speakers, those catchy jingle promos, and that irresistible KDWB logo that pops out somewhere in the song intro. Well these are the hand works of a creative genius named Ricky Roo.
Ricky is currently the Creative Director for KDWB-FM and KTLK-FM Minneapolis, Owner of Roomixx Productions, Co-Owner of HookMafia, freelance for TM Studios and the voice for WHTG/WBBO FM New Jersey’s HIT 106.
His musical interests go all the way back to his middle school band class. He did the band geek thing in high school, both Marching and Concert bands. Focused on the trumpet at first and then worked his way to the baritone, picking up drum line experience when he could. He then spent some time making goofy white people dance in several nightclubs as a DJ. This eventually grew into a radio gig, part-time shifts and then full-time evenings. Picked up some production skills and eventually gave up the annoying song requests from 12-year-olds for a prod room. Hooking up with DF Dub in 2002 opened up a new world of song writing and music production. The musician in Ricky Rooo sprung to action, which led to an appearance on a hit record (“Country Girl”). His musical ability helps him excel in each facet of his career.
Ricky Roo is gaining demands in the industry. With his website RickyRoo.com, he is now available for production in all forms: radio creative, song writing, remixes, tracks and voice work.
